Personal Care Kits, Baby Care Kits, School Kits and Fabric Kits will be distributed among Afghanistan Civilian Assistance Program (ACAP II) eligible families. The ACAP II program assists famiies that have been affected by military operations against Taliban and other insurgent groups. The families are negatively affected through death or injury of family members, as well as property damage and asset loss. Furthermore, these families had little to begin with, which is exacerbated by the fighting.
Kits will provide relief from the fighting and negative effects of the ongoing conflict. The kits will also provide comfort and address both immediate and intermediate needs.

On May 2, 2014, in Abb Barik village, a remote community within Badakhshan province, there was a horrendous series of landslides which literally buried homes and villagers under several feet of mud. A reported 350 people died and hundreds of homes were destroyed. In response to the incident, the Afghan Ministry of Economy called on IRD’s ACAP II program, along with others, to provide support for the surviving families. ACAP II mobilized the Personal Care, Baby Care, and Fabric kits donated by LWR for this cause.
