Description
The uprising in Syria and its accompanying violence, as well as growing unemployment and staggering inflation, has created a pressing humanitarian situation among Syrians. The ACT Alliance, a group of over 130 Christian faith-based organizations that conducts humanitarian, development and advocacy work worldwide, issued an appeal to target the displaced Syrian population.
Quilts were sent to Syria as part of LWR's response to the ACT appeal. Rising costs and the depreciation of the Syrian pound have made it extremely difficult for low-income Syrians to pay for fuel. Quilts helped impoverished people stay warm and comforted them with the knowledge that someone in the U.S. cares about them.
